Introduction to Matters

Updated on

Matters (or Legal Cases) are the central data element in AdvoLogix.   A Matter is a detailed description of a client's problem, case, or question and is used to track their data to solve the problem or issue.

Matters Tab

The Matters tab displays a home page that lets you quickly create and locate all types of matters.

Choose from the available matters lists and edit or create a new list using your filter criteria.

Matter Relationships

Matters can be associated with either accounts or contacts using participants.  Using participants, matters can have multiple accounts, contacts, and staff members related to them.   If you wish to relate matters to these items, then it is easiest to have these items already set up in the system prior to creating a matter.

Matter Status Configuration

Matters can be marked as 'Closed' based on specific criteria configured through the Matter Status Configuration settings. This feature provides organizations with the ability to tailor the case closure process according to their unique workflows and requirements.

Administrators can configure matters to be marked as closed based on:

  • Stage - Define specific stages at which a matter is considered closed.
  • Status - Set particular statuses that signify a matter’s closure.
  • Combination of Stage and Status - Utilize both fields to create more granular criteria, ensuring closure only when both conditions are met.

Users can identify a matter as closed using a Closed checkbox field now available on the matter page layout.

By default, all matters are identified as open matters unless the Matter Status Configuration has implemented at least one of the above configurations.  (If the Closed checkbox field is not available on your matter page, please contact your system administrator.)
