[1370] ICU Locale Critical Update Cannot Be Enabled By Salesforce (MM)

Updated on

Article #000001370

Summary

A Salesforce critical update cannot be enabled because the Matter Management package has not updated the API versions  less then 45.0.

Question

Why am I receiving an email like the one below?

Email Text:
Hello administrator,

We were unsuccessful in enabling the ICU locale formats release update in your sandbox org [company name here] (OrgID: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx). The enablement failed because this org contains one or more Apex classes, Apex triggers, or Visualforce pages that are using an API version less than 45.0. We will try to enforce this release update again in the next release.

At this time we ask you to review and update any Apex classes, Apex triggers, or Visualforce pages to API version 45 or higher. You can also choose to enable the ICU locale formats on your own.

For a step-by-step process, refer to the Adopt the ICU Locale Formats article. For more information, see API Versions for Apex Classes, Apex Triggers, and Visualforce Pages and JDK Locale Format Retirement and the Enable ICU Locale Formats Release Update. If you have questions, open a case with support via Salesforce Help.

Thank you,
Salesforce

Resolution

This email was triggered by a critical Salesforce update that was recently enabled in the Spring '25 Salesforce release.  For this update to be successfully enabled, CaseCloud needed to update the API versions less than 45.0 in the Matter Management package.  This was implemented in the February Matter Management (MM) release, which went live on March 3, 2025.  The MM release notes have a yellow section at the top with instructions on installing (or upgrading) this release in an organization, whether it be a sandbox or production.  If you did not follow these pre-installation steps, the upgrade would fail.  Once the org has been upgraded, you will no longer receive the Salesforce automated email.
