Updated on

The AdvoLogix CalendarRules integration brings the capabilities of your CalendarRules subscription in context with your AdvoLogix matter workflow and  business process. The resulting solution provides an end to end cloud-based integration experience.

About the CalendarRules Service

CalendarRules is a subscription based service offering general civil litigation-related court and agency rules for State, Federal, Appellate and Bankruptcy courts across the United States. Currently, rules are available in 50 states, with additional courts being added every month. Please see the CalenderRules web site for the current list of available court rules and subscription options.

What are the goals of the CalendarRules integration?

AdvoLogix maintains critical matter information and implements life-cycle workflow tools allowing organizations to optimize their unique business process strategies. In keeping with this mantra, the AdvoLogix CalendarRules integration provides the ability to seamlessly schedule matter-based tasks and events based on the court rules provided by CalendarRules.

In short, the integration creates a series of tasks and events based on the rules provided by the CalendarRules service. The resulting collection of tasks and events are grouped within a docket record assigned to the underlying Matter. In addition to viewing the resulting activities within the docket, the new tasks and events are available throughout AdvoLogix. This includes the Matter Calendar, Timeline, Kanban, Gantt, Personal Calendar, and Task Checklists.

Primary Elements of the CalendarRules Integration

The key data elements of the CalendarRules integration work together to allow an organization to select the appropriate set of court rules for a given matter.

Courts

Each Court has a set of unique rules pertaining specifically to the underlying jurisdiction. The matter's assigned Court is critical when creating a new docket and will determine which court rule triggers can be selected when the docket is created.

AdvoLogix allows each matter to be assigned to a specific Court via the matter's Court lookup field. By setting the Court at the matter level, new dockets will automatically default the appropriate set of court rule options.

Triggers

Triggers are a set of deadlines, tasks, and events, based on the court rules provided by CalendarRules. When a specific trigger is selected and applied to a matter, the trigger date (or base date) establishes the schedule for the resulting activities. This set of activities will perpetually maintain their relationship to each other within a docket.

Dockets

Dockets are the result of applying a CalendarRules trigger to an AdvoLogix matter. Dockets represent a series of activities grouped by virtue of a common time-line objective. This results in the ability to manage a group of interconnected activities that move forward in unison with each other.

The CalendarRules trigger and trigger date are maintained within the docket. If the trigger date changes, users have the ability to re-establish the date schedule for the activities within the docket.

Activities

The activities within the docket are standard AdvoLogix tasks and events. In addition to viewing the activities in context with their docket, these activities can be visualized throughout AdvoLogix (Matter Calendar, Timeline, Kanban, Gantt, Personal Calendar, and Task Manager, etc).
