HotDocs can be extended to any standard or custom object within your organization.
To set up HotDocs for any standard or custom object, your administrator must complete the following steps:
Step 1: Create a Lookup Field for the Object on the HotDocs Interview Object
- Go to Salesforce Setup | Object Manager.
- Use the Quick Find and search for the HotDocs Interview object.
- Open the object details.
- Select Fields & Relationships from the left sidebar.
- Click the New field button.
- Select Data Type as a Lookup Relationship and click Next.
- Choose your related object from the list and click Next.
- Provide the Field Label, Field Name, Child Relationship Name, and click Next.
- Select your field-level security setting according to your needs and click Next.
- Add the field and related list to the relevant page layouts, and then click Next.
- Click Save.
Step 2: Create a Launch Interview Action for the Object
The Launch Interview action can be added to any standard or custom object within an organization.
- Go to Salesforce Setup | Object Manager.
- Search for your object name using the quick find control.
- Click on the object name to go to the details of the object.
- Select Buttons, Links, and Actions from the sidebar.
- Click the New Action button to create a new custom action for the object.
- Provide the following new action information:
- Object Name - should already be selected for your object.
- Action Type - should be set to Lightning Web Component.
- Lightning Web Component - should be set to hotdocsInterviewRunAction.
- Subtype - should already be set to Screen Action.
- Standard Label Type - should be left empty.
- Label - should be set to Launch Interview.
- Name - should be auto-filled from the provided label above.
- Description - can be left empty.
- Click Save.
Step 3: Update the Object's Page Layout
Add the newly created action button and the related list to your object's page layout.
Go to Salesforce Setup | Object Manager.
Search for your object name using the quick find control.
Click on the object name to go to the details of the object.
Select Page Layouts from the sidebar.
Click Edit for a page layout from the list.
Select Related Lists in the page layout section at the top.
Drag the HotDocs Interview into the page layout editor.
Choose columns - Interview ID, HotDocs Document Template, Status, and Action.
Select Mobile & Lightning Actions in the page layout section at the top.
Drag the Launch Interview action from the list into the Salesforce Mobile and Lightning Experience Actions section.
Repeat Step 5 for other page layouts as needed.
Click Save page layout.
