Introduction to Legal Analytics for Law Firms

The Legal Analytics for Law Firms application offers a comprehensive analytics app for legal matter management. It provides insights into resources, billing, financial forecasting, and matter performance for informed decision-making.

To access the Legal Analytics for Law Firms, users must have access to CRM Analytics. If you are not able to access it, please contact your system administrator and ask for configuring this app.

The Legal Analytics for Law Firms application is built on CRM Analytics. It integrates and uses the power of the CRM Analytics platform to deliver insights that were not entirely possible with Salesforce's standard reporting. It offers comprehensive analytics for legal matter management, providing insights into resources, billing, financial forecasting, and matter performance for informed decision-making.

The app includes three dashboards that offer insights into your matter performance, billings, and financial forecasts.

Billing & Financial Forecasting

Billing Insights

Get insights into your billing data, including billable and non-billable time, billing rates, and financial forecasting.

This dashboard includes:

Recipes & Datasets

The Legal Analytics for Law Firms app includes a list of recipes and datasets that power up all the powerful metrics and lenses. In order to view the most current data, these recipes are to be run regularly to refresh the datasets with the latest data. These can be run on demand or scheduled to run automatically.

Refresh Data On-Demand
Run Connections
  1. Click the App Launcher to access the Analytics Studio.
  2. Within Analytics Studio, click the Data Manager from the sidebar or click the Data Manager from the gear icon in the top header.
  3. Select the Connections tab, from the sidebar.
  4. From the list of Objects enabled under the SFDC_Local Connection, repeat the Step 5 for each of the objects listed here:
    • Account
    • Contact
    • User
    • Task
    • Event
    • Matter
    • Participants
    • Timekeeper
    • Role
    • Court Entity
    • Time
    • Expense
    • Rate
    • Fee Arrangement
    • Matter Fee Arrangement
    • UTBMS Code Set
    • UTBMS Code
    • Budget
    • Budget Detail
  5. Click on the Object's row action menu and click the Run Data Sync menu action.
    • If asked about this, then choose the Run Full Sync option.
Run Recipes
  1. Click the App Launcher to access the Analytics Studio.
  2. Within Analytics Studio, click Data Manager from the sidebar or click the Data Manager from the gear icon in the top header.
  3. Select the Recipes tab from the sidebar.
  4. From the list of recipes listed here, repeat Step 5 for each of them:
    • LA Matter Recipe
    • LA Matter Other Recipe
    • LA Rate Recipe
    • LA Time Recipe
    • LA Expense Recipe
    • LA Activity Recipe
    • LA Budget Recipe
    • LA Actuals Recipe
  5. Click the recipe's row action menu and click the Run Now menu action.
Refresh Data Automatically
Schedule Connections
  1. Click the App Launcher to access the Analytics Studio.
  2. Within Analytics Studio, click Data Manager from the sidebar OR Click the Data Manager from the gear icon in the top header.
  3. Select the Connections tab from the sidebar.
  4. For the SFDC_Local Connection, click the row action menu and click the Schedule menu action.
    • Choose your desired schedule to run the SFDC_Local connection objects to refresh data automatically on the preferred schedule.
Run Recipes
  1. Click the App Launcher to access the Analytics Studio.
  2. Within Analytics Studio, click Data Manager from the sidebar OR Click the Data Manager from the gear icon in the top header.
  3. Select the Recipes tab from the sidebar.
  4. From the list of Recipes listed here, repeat Step 5 for each of them:
    • LA Matter Recipe
    • LA Matter Other Recipe
    • LA Rate Recipe
    • LA Time Recipe
    • LA Expense Recipe
    • LA Activity Recipe
    • LA Budget Recipe
    • LA Actuals Recipe
  5. Click the Recipe's row action menu and click the Schedule menu action.
    • Choose your desired schedule to run the recipe and refresh the dataset associated with it automatically.

Note: The actual recipe names will be appended with your app name. For example, if your app is named Legal Analytics for Law Firms, then all of the above-mentioned recipes will have Legal Analytics appended to them, like Legal Analytics for Law Firms LA Matter Recipe.

  1. Click the App Launcher to access the Analytics Studio.
  2. Within Analytics Studio, click Browse from the sidebar.
  3. Select the Apps from the navigation button bar on this screen.
  4. The list below will be filtered to show all Apps.  Find and open the app that your system administrator created when Configuring Legal Analytics for Law Firms app.
