[1375] The Logic Behind Spend Management's Number Fields With Four Decimal Places (SM)

Updated on

Article #000001375

Summary

The fields use four decimals to meet LEDES format requirements. They can’t be reconfigured, but you can create custom fields (currency, numeric, or formula) for two-decimal output.

Question

Why do all of the number fields in the Spend Management package have to have four decimal places?  Can the fields be modified to allow only two decimals?  Is there a reason all these fields were created with such high precision?

Resolution

The fields in Spend Management reflect our support for LEDES Formats that expect the data in numerical fields to be up to four decimal places as well. The references for those can be verified from these format specifications:

The application cannot be configured to allow modification of the fields we included; however, customers can create custom fields (such as formula, regular currency, or numeric fields) to maintain a 2-decimal output.
