Rates allow you to create hourly rate prices for Timekeepers or for ad hoc chargeable items such as expenses or fixed fee items.
Navigate to Matter Tab
Choose the Desired Matter
Click the name of the matter you wish to modify a rate for
Add a Rate
Click New button in Rates related list
Create a New Rate
- Rate Name: Set a name for this Rate.
- Rate: Choose the amount for this Rate.
- Charged Per: Hour or Item.
- Rate Type: Time or Expense.
- Cost: Choose the amount as cost to you as an organization for this Rate.
- Override Timekeeper Cost: Enable this if for this rate you would like to override the Cost set at the timekeeper level.
- Rate Group: Associate to a rate group - Enter a search term (part of the name of a rate group) and select an item from the displayed list of rate groups.
- Matter: Associate to a Matter - Enter a search term (part of the name name of a matter) and select an item from the list of matters.
- Timekeeper: Associate to a timekeeper - Enter a search term (part of the name of a timekeeper) and select an item from the displayed list of timekeepers.
- Role: Associate to a role - Enter a search term (part of the name of a role) and select an item from the displayed list of roles.
- Active: Check if you want this rate active (can not be used if not active).
- Default: Check if you want this rate set as a default rate.

Save Options:
- Click Save to save the new rate.
- Click Save & New to save the new rate and be taken to a blank rate creation page to add additional new rate.
- Click Cancel to erase your attempt at creation and not save the rate.

Shows the rate as created
Rate History - shows the history of changes made to the rate
